| The space and the people have molded my character and my thinking to a degree that would be impossible to eradicate. These factors, plus some reading and some travel, have made me what I am. I like tall elm trees that are like avaricious old men, with sharply etched fingers grasping for the sky. I like the feel of thick carpets under my feet, and a golden haze illuminating a sleepy morning. I like white cottages surrounded by greenest grass with roses, peonies, or the delicate lavender iris to command the passer-by. I like cocoa puffs. I like the look of children at Christmas and the long beards on old men. I like to walk up stairs and over bridges. I like good jokes and good friends. The two are inseparable. |
